Joining Europe is not enough

Estonia joins the European Union. I welcome this sincerely. But I refuse the illusion.

Europe does not replace judges. It does not replace journalists. It does not replace oversight, that slow, unglamorous thing that nobody applauds. European funds can modernise the country. They also risk enriching those who already know how to take public money.

I will follow these files closely.
