The silence of the newsrooms

My articles no longer get through. At first, the responses were cautious but polite. Now they no longer come at all. I am offered translations. Proofreading for others. Unsigned texts. I am suggested to take a step back.
I take a step back every morning. Then I look at my files.
I know what people say behind my back. Unstable. Tired. Alcoholic. I let them talk. I work.
