When my sources start to get scared

Three sources told me this week that they no longer wanted to work with me. They gave no explanation. I simply received a firm and definitive silence.
A fourth eventually let something slip, almost against her will: “You are looking in the wrong place.”
I do not know if it was advice or a threat. She never replied to my messages again. But when a simple question makes people nervous, I keep going. Finding the truth is my compass.
